Installation checklist

Run through this list before you climb the bin.

Site

  • Cell signal verified at the bin (one bar minimum on any carrier)
  • Solar panel will face south with no all-day shade
  • Roof port or sensor cable entry available
  • Bin is grounded and bonded to the rest of the yard

Hardware

  • Chester X1 with serial number recorded
  • Mounting bracket and stainless hardware
  • Sensor cable of correct length (allow 0.5 m of slack at the top)
  • Cable strain relief / bushing for the roof port

Software

  • GrainLink account created and location defined
  • Bin added to the location with grain type and capacity
  • Device ID ready to pair
  • On-site technician has the dashboard open on their phone

After power-on

  • Status LED solid green within 5 minutes
  • Readings appear in the dashboard
  • Sensor cable readings are within 2°C of ambient (sanity check)
  • Photo of the install saved to the bin’s Notes tab
